Leaning Block Wall Warning Signs

What visible conditions make a leaning or bowing wall worth a closer look and how to document them safely.

Visible out-of-plumb movement

If the top of the wall is noticeably displaced from the base, photograph it from the end of the wall line or another safe side angle.

Cracks plus movement

Cracking combined with lean, separation or shifted blocks is more important than a hairline crack on an otherwise straight wall.

Loose wall or failed pilaster

Do not test it by pushing. Keep people away from the area and document the condition from a safe position.

Change over time

If you have older photos, they can help show whether the condition is stable or progressing.

Use this guide to prepare—not to diagnose an unstable wall yourself.

If the wall appears unsafe, keep your distance. Text photos to 623-226-0192 or call Desert Dreamco LLC for the next step.

Real Phoenix Valley example

What a leaning wall can look like from the side.

This Cave Creek wall was photographed along its length to make the visible lean easier to see. A side-angle photo is more useful than pushing on an unstable wall to test movement.
